Roof Restoration & Maintenance
We understand not everyone needs a full roof replacement and may only require minor adjustments to fix their current roof. Some of the indications that you may require roof restoration or maintenance include:
- Roof leaks, leaking gutters, water damage
- Cracks in gutters or ridge capping
- Gutters falling from mounts
- Missing tiles or parts of your roof
- Cracked, chipped or shattered tiles
Generally if you are seeing these signs you already have damage to your roof, however we always suggest even if you do not currently have any of these issues to book in an inspection for peace of mind to ensure your roof is in tip top shape.
Broken or cracked ridge capping is the most common issue that we continually see over the years within our roofing industry. Ridge capping is an essential part of your roofs drainage system, they secure the tiles in adjacent roof panels helping protect your home against damage due to weather conditions. Without ridge capping your roof will not be able to prevent any water seeping through your roof, causing great damage to your tiles and the inside of your home.
There are three main reasons ridges will start showing signs of cracking if they haven’t already cracked completely.
- Over time the mortar that is used to hold the ridge capping in place cracks due to prolonged exposure from the heat of the sun, heavy rain and storms.
- If your roofs ridges haven’t initially been installed correctly they will inevitably crack.
- Simple deterioration due to old age.
Below we have explained the process on how our team at leaky roof will be able to fix/prevent any of your ridge capping issues in regards to a tiled roof. However, we are not limited to tiled roofs! We also do metal and colourbond roofs.
- Old ridge capping mortar and gable ends will be removed.
- The ridge caps will then be thoroughly cleaned to prepare the surface.
- Ridge caps and gable ends will be re-bedded with concrete, weep holes will be installed within the bedding.
- All ridge capping including caps and gable ends will then be repointed with flexi.
- Once complete all debris will be removed from site.

Roof gutters are very often out of sight, out of mind and you won’t even know there’s a problem until it’s too late. With the severe weather we experience here in bushy Canberra is it inevitable that small twigs, leaves, branches and other debris end up in our gutters.
During heavy rain periods, if your gutters have become blocked overtime you will start seeing signs such as water leaks coming through your ceiling causing all kinds of issues, mold could then start growing, water marking and your plaster may start caving in. This can make your gutters the perfect place for pest infestation.
During the scorching hot weather we experience here in Canberra it is extremely hazardous to have dry debris built up in your gutters as this will cause a serious fire hazard.
