Roofing in Molonglo Valley: What You Need to Know

Molonglo Valley is Canberra's newest district, with Wright, Coombs, Denman Prospect and Whitlam built from around 2012 onwards. The roofs here are almost entirely Colorbond steel on modern trusses, which puts the district in a completely different maintenance position to the rest of the city: nothing here is at end of life, and most roofing work is either builder defect, storm damage, or the first round of gutter and downpipe issues on homes now a decade old. Blocks are small and homes sit close together, so roof-to-roof and roof-to-wall junctions are tight and boundary flashings do a lot of work. The district also sits directly against the Molonglo River corridor and its grassland reserves, which is why so many homes here were built to a bushfire attack level rating with ember protection that has to stay intact to keep doing its job.
